Cognitive overload
Too much coming in, nowhere for it to go. The thinking takes more effort than the task, and by the time you’ve processed it all there’s nothing left for the work itself.
What you want instead: a clear head and a clear next step.

Coaching for ADHD and Autistic business owners
I help neurodivergent (ADHD and Autistic) business owners swap overwhelm and inconsistency for structure that fits their brain, so they finish what they start, even on a bad week. One to one coaching online, with clients in the UK and abroad.
Your best work week ever, followed by four days where you can’t answer an email.
Writing the post. Reading it nine times. Not posting it.
Three hours of research to avoid a twenty minute task.
Saying yes immediately, then resenting it for a fortnight.
The course you paid for, still at module two.
You’ve probably decided this means something about you. It might not. It might mean you’ve been working in a way that doesn’t fit you.
What would you finally get done if a bad week stopped knocking you off course?
Find out what’s stopping you finishing what you startFour one to one sessions of around 45 minutes, online, with WhatsApp support between sessions. I work with clients in the UK and abroad.

Not high standards. A loop. You rewrite, re-read and refine until the thing that was finished an hour ago still isn’t out.
What you want instead: work that goes out when it’s good enough.
Not procrastination and not laziness. A nervous system at capacity. The longer you leave a thing, the bigger it becomes, because your brain fills the gap with imagined stakes.
What you want instead: starting things without the dread.
You decide what other people can handle, usually generously, and absorb the difference yourself. It looks like being considerate. It costs you the week.
What you want instead: time and energy left for your own work.
I’m Caroline Nield, a coach and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) Practitioner for neurodivergent business owners. I spent over twenty years in HR, including education and safeguarding. Capable, reliable, trusted. On paper I was doing well, and everything felt harder than it seemed to be for everyone else.
My answer to anything difficult was always the same. Try harder, prepare more, push through.
Then my son was identified as neurodivergent, and in learning about him I started recognising myself. I was diagnosed Autistic at 48.
A short quiz. About three minutes. You’ll see what’s getting in the way, and one thing to try this week to get moving again.
